Balancán, Tab. On her first tour as President of the Republic to this entity, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo praised the struggle of her predecessor, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, and also called for maintaining unity between the government and the people.
At the “José Nazur Bolívar” sports unit, the president’s words were celebrated by hundreds of López Obrador’s countrymen, who arrived at this place early in the morning, where they witnessed the signing of the universal pension agreement for people with disabilities between Sheinbaum Pardo, Governor Javier May and the Secretary of Welfare, Ariadna Montiel.
The head of the federal Executive recalled that “we come from a social movement that triumphed in 2018, and the people of Tabasco and Mexico were fortunate to have the best president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador,” who also maintained, “He gave a lot to everyone.”
He highlighted that the former president highlighted “he closed his cycle, his government ended, and do not believe that he stopped fighting, because he continues fighting, because that is what his life is about, fighting for his people.”
He stated that López Obrador always said that the fight is thought and action, and after so many years of traveling the country, “he had a lot of action and thought, and now he is dedicating himself to thought. “He went to live in Palenque and there he is writing a book, which is going to talk about the cultural greatness of Mexico.” And in about three years, he said, we will be reading that work.
He indicated that once López Obrador’s government cycle has concluded, “we begin a new period, but the principles do not change, the bases do not change, his example does not change, his legacy does not change. “We are the fourth transformation of public life in Mexico.”
We are here, stated the president, because “we cannot distance ourselves from the people, because we have to continue closely, informing, saying what we are doing. That is why we continue with the mornings of the people every day, from Monday to Friday, to continue informing and continue debating what we do from the government and what is happening in our country”
But also for that reason, he stressed, “on June 1, 2025, among all Mexicans, we are going to elect judges, magistrates and ministers of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation.”
It is an “extraordinary moment that our country is experiencing and we have to remain very united, government and people. There can be no divorce, because the moment the government looks the other way, it forgets its people.
“And the people also have to be attentive to what is happening with the government, to demand that we fulfill everything we committed to. This is the great alliance between the government and the people of Mexico. The best president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, taught us that and we are going to preserve his legacy, the example of this great Tabasco native who gave so much to our country and who will continue to give and also to the world, because Andrés Manuel López Obrador taught us that. “He gave a lot to everyone.”
I come to tell you, he added, that “we have principles and causes, and that we do not lie, we do not steal and we will never betray the people of Tabasco or the people of Mexico.”
Before this meeting – where people were searched upon entry, including children, and some were even asked to lift their shirts – the president met privately with mayors at a secondary school, where it was agreed to build 17 high schools in the entire state and two universities.
