Sheikh Tahnoun bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, “may God have mercy on him,” was among those who accompanied the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, “may God rest his soul,” and among those who working with him on that federal project culminated on December 2, 1971, with the proclamation of the State of the Union.
He held several positions in his national career, where he was the Minister of Municipality and Agriculture from July 1, 1971. He was also appointed as the Governor’s Representative in the Eastern Region of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi (Al Ain Region) on 9 August of the same year.
On 8 July 1972, an Amiri decree was issued appointing Sheikh Tahnoun bin Mohammed as a member of the Board of Directors of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Arab Development and Economics (currently the Abu Dhabi Development Fund) and as Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Oil Company National (ADNOC) in 1973.
In the year 1974, a decree was issued appointing him as Chairman of the Department of Municipality and Agriculture in Al Ain, and with the establishment of the Board of Directors of the Abu Dhabi Investment Corporation, he was a member of its Board of Directors , and its membership was renewed in 1980.
In 1977, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, “God rest his soul,” appointed him as a member of the Supreme Petroleum Council in 1988.
