Sheikh Rashid Al Nuaimi Leads Delegation at ANOC General Assembly in Portugal: Key Highlights from Global Olympic Meeting

Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Vice President of the National Olympic Committee, led the committee’s delegation at the meeting of the General Assembly of the Union of National Olympic Committees, held by Cascais in Portugal from October 30 to November 1 as part of the “ANOC” meeting series.
The delegation included Fares Mohammed Al-Mutawa, Secretary-General of the Olympic Committee, and Major General Dr. Mohammed Al-Murr, a member of the Committee’s Board of Directors.
The meeting opened by honoring several late sports leaders who influenced the Olympic movement, before Dr. Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee, gave his speech to the participating delegations from various National Olympic Committees around the world.
The meeting saw the review of many important topics on the agenda, including approving the minutes of the 26th General Assembly of the Union of National Olympic Committees in Seoul in 2022, the report of the President of the Union of the National Olympic Committees, the Secretary-General of the Union, and the report on the Beach Games of the Union of National Olympic Committees for the year 2023.
The meeting also saw the report submitted by the Indonesian Olympic Committee, the decisions of the Executive Office of the General Assembly of the Union of Olympic Committees, as well as a visionary report from continental sports federations, the final report of the Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games -Summer “Paris 2024“, and the report of the Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games in “Paris 2024 Los Angeles 2028”.
During the meeting, attendees reviewed the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) report, the International Testing Agency report, the presentation from Deloitte and the Digital Leadership Center, and the Anouk TV Digital Acceleration Program report.
Representatives of the Federation of National Olympic Committees reviewed the reports of the Federation’s committees and working groups, the report of the Organizing Committee of the Winter Olympic Games in Milan Cortina 2026, the report of the Organizing Committee of the Fourth Youth Games in Dakar 2026, the report The Federation of National Olympic Committees on new business opportunities, and the report of the Court of Arbitration for Sport “CAS”, the report of the Association of National Olympic Committees on sustainability, the strategic plan of the National Association of Olympic Committees Reports, and the International Federation of World Games.
