Yesterday, Sheikh Mohammed bin Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum witnessed the challenges of the symbols of the age of Al-Lakaya for tribal people’s camels, within the Al-Marmoum Heritage Camel Festival 2024, and crowned a number of winners.
On the fourth day of the festival, 20 races were held for a distance of 5 kilometers, with the participation of 939 mounts, bringing the number of participants of the Laqaya age to 3,325 mounts. The first six rounds were allocated to the symbols, with three cups and three rifles for the open race, the local race, and the production.
“Qubba” with the logo of Suhail Balramli Al-Amri won the Al-Lakaya Al-Bakkar Open Cup in 7:10:6 minutes and the financial prize amounted to one and a half million dirhams, and “Mbash” by Hamad Suhail Hafar Al-Marri won the Al-Lakaya Al-Jadaan Open Rifle and a million dirhams, and reached the finish line in 7: 16:7 minutes.
“Fayd” by Muhammad Ghassab, the shepherd of Al-Tira Al-Amri, won the local Bakkar Al-Lakaya Cup and presented him with the million dirham prize, achieving a time of 7:15:7 minutes. “Mabaad” presented its owner, Bakhit Al-Noubi Al-Amri, with Al-Lakaya Al-Jadaan’s local rifle and 800,000 dirhams in a time of 7:17:7 minutes.
“Hazar” added the second symbol in the festival to the slogan of Muhammad Sultan Markhan Al Ketbi, by obtaining the Al Laqaya Al Bakkar Production Cup and the prize of one and a half million dirhams, with a time of 7:14:6 minutes. The sixth Al-Lakaya symbol went to “Al-Nadir” in the colors of the Mubarak bin Nasra Al-Amiri logo, who won the Al-Lakaya Al-Jaadan Production rifle and the million dirhams in a time of 7:11:7 minutes. Today, Al-Marmoum and Saif Al-Arab fields are witnessing the holding of 38 races in the broadcast age for tribal camels over a distance of 6 kilometers. 18 races will be held in Al-Marmoum Square, eight of which will be dedicated to production camels, in addition to twenty races in Saif Al-Arab Square.

Muhammad Ghassab, the shepherd of Al-Tira Al-Amri, expressed his happiness at winning the local cup through Fayd, and said: “Our joy is indescribable, and Fayd achieved what we aspired to, after being runner-up for the cup twice.” Mubarak bin Nasra Al-Amiri said: “We prepared for Al-Nadir to sit since the beginning of the season, and he was able to achieve what was required and win the first symbol of the season. He participated in Qatar, but he was not successful.”
