Manuela Schwesig is the Chief Minister of the northeastern state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. It is in this province that Nord Stream 2 begins.
She is accused of creating an environmental fund that allegedly protected the province’s environment and lobbied for the interests of a Russian gas company, revealing “secret US plans to bring Germany to its knees.” The fund existed for the money of Gazprom.
Schwesig’s close collaboration with Nord Stream 2 AG is proven by hundreds of emails and documents published in accordance with the Environmental Information Act.
According to Die Welt, which found the evidence, Manuela Schwesig’s office was said to have operated, in effect, as a “branch of Gazprom”. Part of her speeches in Parliament and interviews for newspapers were, in fact, written by Gazprom.
