A woman is seriously hospitalized after being hit by a car on Friday night in Brooklyn.
The driver had attempted to rob two vehicles in a violent manner.
The first violent robbery took place around 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of West 15th Street and Surf Avenue in Coney Island.
Investigators say the owner of the car was placing his two sons in the back seat when 24-year-old Khalil Ivey attacked him and seized the driver’s seat.
Ivey sped backwards in uncontrolled circles and then jumped onto the sidewalk and ran over the 40-year-old woman.
Police say that two children and another woman who were very close were miraculously saved.
Ivey got out of the vehicle and tried to drive another by force, but was unable to defeat the owner.
The alleged attacker faces charges for unauthorized use of a vehicle and criminal possession of stolen property.
He also faces aggravated robbery charges, among other charges, following an arrest earlier this week in Connecticut.
