Elin Kleppe was only 54 years old. Her husband Vidar Kleppe held her hand while she fell asleep quietly in their home in Kristiansand.

– It was very good to sit with her. I’m lucky to be there when she passed away, says Kleppe.

She was diagnosed six months ago. It came as a big shock.

– She was in her prime. It was a big surprise that the cancer had spread so fast, says Kleppe.

The former FRP deputy leader describes his wife as beautiful, loving and his biggest supporter. They were married for 29 years and have three children together.

– I do not know how other married couples feel, but we had a fantastic time. She was my great love. We have stood together in thick and thin for over 30 years, says Kleppe.

In recent weeks, Vidar has done everything to make Elin feel as good as possible.

– I did not want her to be in a nursing home. The last few weeks have been tough, but I’m glad I’ve been with her. Cancer is a brutal disease, he says.

Elin will be buried in Voie church, which is located just below the family home.

– It is very nice to be able to be close to her, says Kleppe.

He is very grateful for the support he has received recently.

– It’s nice that people care. Greatest of all is love.

From 2002 to 2012, Kleppe was the leader of the controversial party Democrats. Today he represents the party in the county council in Agder and is also the first candidate for the Storting.
