Maria Fernanda, 45, and her two children, 23 and 19, lived a really scary story inside their own home in Móstoles, Spain. For several months, the tenant Teresa used insecticides to season the family’s food and put bleach into soft drink bottles. At first, nobody noticed the situation. However, as time went by, the smell of insecticide and bleach became stronger in the kitchen area and health problems also began to appear within the family.
“We started to notice something strange in the food. The food tasted strange, I didn’t know it well, but as I had doubts, I thought I had exaggerated the spices,” said Maria Fernanda, in statements El Mundo. The 45-year-old woman says that only at the end of last year, people started to realize what was going on: “She was killing us little by little,” he said.
The two boys even needed to be transported to the hospital, as they were suffering from dizziness and nausea. One even needed an intravenous treatment and a stomach cleanse.
Despite thinking about expelling the elderly woman from home when she began to suspect the situation, Maria Fernanda inquired with her lawyer who explained that the situation was not so simple and that it was necessary to prove that the situation was really happening.
To turn her suspicions into certainties, the woman then decided to install cameras on the kitchen ceiling to prove the situation. “It was when we saw that she put Ducal insecticide on rice and drinks,” explained Maria Fernanda.
After the crime was proven, Teresa was expelled from Maria Fernanda’s house, detained by the Spanish police and accused of attempted murder.
