Linn Ullmann has read research on trauma, memories and not least forgetfulness in connection with the work on “Girl, 1983” and the previous novel, “The Restless”. Both books are fiction close to their own lives. Some memories are intrusive, present. Images from the past can invade and disturb and shake the day today.
Linn Ullmann is thus a memory cleaner. The new novel “Girl, 1983” is, among much more, a story about a photograph.
