During the last hours, the story of the Damietta nurse, who announced that she had received an amount of 2 million pounds in her bank account by mistake, spread on social media, and returned the amount to its owner again.
However, as soon as the story was spread on Facebook, information began to appear one after the other, as the beginning of the story dates back to the presence of a nurse in Damietta named “Yasmine A.” She went to the Public Funds Investigation Department of the Damietta Security Directorate, and wrote a report, under No. 885 of 2023 Administrative Kafr Saad, stating that there is an amount of approximately one million nine hundred and fifty thousand pounds, in addition to the amount of her salary, in her personal account.
The report was presented to the Public Prosecution in Kafr Saad to take the necessary measures, and the visa and all the papers related to the account were handed over to return the money to the concerned authority.
However, after investigating the accuracy of the truth of the incident, two sources revealed to Masrawy, one of whom is an official in the Ministry of Health and Population, a surprise regarding the transfer of 2 million pounds by mistake to the account of the nurse’s salary.
The two sources, who asked not to be named, said that the details of the matter are not as reported on social media, as it did not take the initiative to announce the incident and inform its affiliated unit, but rather those responsible for financial management there were the ones who discovered it.
The two sources added: “She did not initiate this investigation, and the administration took her visa immediately, and there is a committee to investigate this issue at the present time.”
The two sources explained: “The transfer took place over two months, in January and February…and therefore, if she wanted to initiate the reporting, she would have done so after receiving January’s salary, and she did not wait until this month, but rather withdrew part of the amount from her balance in the first month.”
Masrawy tried to contact the Damietta nurse, but she did not answer the phone until the news was published.
While Ahmed Eid Abdel Karim, the lawyer for the Damietta nurse, revealed the latest developments in the case, and confirmed that the beginning of the incident dates back to January 25, with the fall of January salaries, as the nurse Yasmine went to the ATM machine of the Bank of Cairo in the Kafr Saad Center in Damietta, to withdraw an amount of 4 thousand pounds from Her salary, and when she inquired about the remaining salary, she was surprised that there was a large number, “993 thousand pounds, including the salary.”
And “Abdul Karim” told Masrawy: “I went to the officials and said the situation .. They told her we will review the accounts and the bank .. They told her to go back again, you will not find the money .. but she found the amount .. and we preferred intermittent withdrawals .. with amounts ranging from 2 to 4 thousand and a total of 43 A thousand pounds to make sure of it.”
And he continued: “The situation continued until the salary for the month of February came down.. By making an inquiry, I found multiples of the amount amounting to 2 million.. After confirming, the police were informed and a detailed report of the incident was issued, and before the investigation began, the 43 thousand pounds were deposited in the ATM machine, and she said there was no need.” on myself or my children.”
He pointed out that “the visa for her account was delivered, along with a statement of account for the months of 11, 12 and 1, and a statement of the amount in February, a statement sheet of what was deposited (43 thousand pounds), and all the papers were submitted to the Public Prosecution office.”
The lawyer stressed that the nurse is working normally: “We hoped the officials would honor her, and her psychological state was affected because she was not honored as a good model by returning the money.”
He added, “No one discovered this issue in her work, she is the one who went and told her officials all the details.”
