Captain Petr Pála said that you can have your head held high after the match. How would you rate the match?
–
Overall, I’m not happy because I was expecting something else. I thought it would be faster. But sometimes I thought it was handball. But Emma played slow balls. Then I didn’t take my chances. When I was on top, she played great.
–
During the match, it started to blow a lot …
–
Which in combination with clay is not the style in which I excel. I don’t know what could make me worse. I can’t give the balls as much control as I can on the hard. It’s more challenging for my technique.
–
Were you able to perceive the atmosphere on Štvanice?
–
It was incredibly nice to be driven and supported by people. It helps a lot, one feels that one is not alone on the court.
–
How will you remember your premiere?
–
I’m very happy that I got the opportunity, even though it didn’t turn out happily for me, so it’s great to experience something like that. It was one of my dreams to play in the Fed Cup, in a team competition. But when I saw the list, I thought I didn’t know what would have to happen for me to stand on the court. It’s an honor to represent me.
–
Do you have the strength for Saturday’s singles or even a doubles?
–
I have no problem with that. I’m not exhausted, I have enough strength and energy. I’m just struggling with the surface and trying to figure out how to play on it. Sometimes it’s a bigger fight for me than with my opponents. Last year, I even thought I’d skip the clay season. But now I believe that it’s better and I can sell something.
