He is nicknamed “the king of the scam”. A man in his thirties from Marseille is accused of having scammed or attempted to scam several women on social networks, says France Blue Perigord. One of the victims was robbed by this individual of €4,000. On Snapchat, his method is simple. He seduces women and then extracts money from them. Asked, his last victim says he met him a month ago on the social network popular with young people. A single mom, she quickly fell under the spell: “We got to know each other, he took an interest in my life, he made me dangle mountains and wonders and told me that he was starting to appreciate it. It turned my brain upside down”, she admits to France Bleu.
The young woman invites him to her home in Trélissac, near Périgueux. The man then tells him that he finds himself without money after the separation with his wife, and that his account is even blocked. He then asks her if she doesn’t mind that her boss makes a transfer to her account before transferring it via PayPal. “I didn’t ask myself any questions because I wanted to help him”. The sum of €4,000 arrives and she complies. Problem, the next day, his bank calls him: the money deposited comes from a stolen check. Subsequently, she also discovers that he tried to make purchases with his bank card, which he could have photographed.

Disappointed and angry, the young woman finds similar scams on social networks. A site specializing in the denunciations of scammers of this kind quotes the individual. This is where she will decide to trap him. She writes to him again and claims that the €4,000 is still in his account. By paying for his train ticket, the man returns from Paris. But the young woman filed a complaint in between. When he got off the train in Périgueux, he was arrested and placed in police custody.
With France Bleu, the Périgueux prosecutor’s office confirmed the opening of an investigation. If the man is released after his police custody, he could have to deal with justice in a short time, because the police have got in touch with the other police stations in France. They will check in particular whether complaints have been filed against this man, with the name indicated or under other pseudonyms. Today, the victim wants him to be arrested “because otherwise he will start again”. According to the Warning-Trading site, some women have already filed a complaint, others have not.
