A Syrian woman gave birth to her baby in her eighth month of pregnancy yesterday, after her health condition deteriorated following an earthquake that struck the Turkish province of Hatay (south), with a magnitude of 6.4.
And the Anadolu Agency website stated that the husband, Hassan Kikuni, 28, asked for the help of the gendarmerie in the city of Antakya, the center of Hatay province, to help his wife, Julia, 22, who was eight months pregnant, when she panicked, fearing the earthquake.
He pointed out that the Syrian woman was transferred to a field hospital in Antakya, where she gave birth in a special room prepared for her inside the hospital, and gave birth to a baby girl.
He added that the medical staff placed the infant in the incubator, and transferred the mother to the medical city in Adana state.
In his statement to reporters, the husband, Hassan, said that when he was leaving their home with his wife, Julia, in a state of panic at the impact of the earthquake, his wife’s health condition deteriorated when they were descending the stairs of the building.
He explained that when he left the building, he came across a car of the Turkish gendarmerie, and asked for help from its members.
He said, “I am very happy. Yes, we were very afraid at the time of the earthquake, but I feel happy now, and I thank all the medical staff, including doctors and nurses.”
