She fell asleep quietly at Osen Pensjonistheim on Thursday 8 July, writes Østlendingen.
According to the newspaper, she has lived all her life in Åmot municipality in the Inland, and she leaves behind two daughters, seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
– She lost two of her kids, one in 2018 and one in 2019, they died 80 years old. It was tough for her. Even though they were old, it was her kids, anyway. But she was strong, and has gotten through things, says her daughter Liv Nymoen to Østlendingen.
TV 2 spoke with Nymoen a few months ago. Then she had just taken both doses of the corona vaccine. She was thus one of the few who have experienced both the Spanish flu, two world wars and the corona pandemic.
Gudrun Nymoen was born on October 26, 1910. To TV 2 she said that both she and her siblings were infected with the Spanish flu when she was eight years old.
– We were sick too. And we children were in the same room in the house. I think that was when it was important that we did not get light into the room. It must have been very tough for my mother to take care of us. Many lost their lives, and I remember that we thought this was something dangerous, she told the channel.
VG interviewed Nymoen and nine other Norwegians over the age of 100 in 2017. Then she told, among other things, that she still went for walks to stay in shape. Nymoen also told about when the house of the family burned down during the war, i 1944.
If she had been able to do something different, it would have been to demand a better pipe in the living room, where it caught fire, she said in the interview.
Nymoen will be buried next Friday.
