She ships 100 masks to the Britons in New York

An apple, an ermine, the Statue of Liberty and the BZH New York logo. The Bretons of New York will soon wear a mask made in Morbihan. A breizh touch signed Gwenaëlle Pin, a seamstress from Ploeren, an early member of the Invisible Factory which worked wonders during the first confinement. “I was doing 130 a week, then when it stopped I bought a kit of 200 unassembled masks. I started, in November, to make personalized masks for children with the heat press of La FABrique du Loch, in Auray (56), and I presented them on the networks ”.

For me, it’s stimulating to know that a little Brittany is going to New York

This did not go unnoticed: the Invisible Factory, which had a request for l’association BZH New York, suggested to the Ploerinoise seamstress to order 100 masks. She contacted Laurent Corbel, a Breton New Yorker, originally from Arradon (56), and the case was concluded. Gwenaëlle Pin had to simplify the initial logo a little, which included too many details, especially the buildings of Manhattan. Whatever, the result is very graphic and very gwen ha du.

Child’s play for this seamstress accustomed to working for events in her small workshop located in her pavilion in rue de l’Iroise. The mask, approved and washable thirty times, is made of cotton and is tied behind the head. “I think what pleased BZH New York is that it’s a Breton project made in Ploeren. For me, it’s stimulating to know that a bit of Brittany is going to New York ”.

As a Christmas present

“This is the whole story of the Bretons of New York,” says Laurent Corbel, currently confined to New York: to develop projects straddling the Atlantic. We’re excited to bring a bit of Brittany back to New York. We could have had it done here but I found the initiative of the Invisible Factory very strong ”.

These masks will be included in a gift package that the association will give to Britons who settled in New York in the 1970s. “Today, they are 80 years old. We are used to inviting them to the Christmas dinner that we organize every year, but this year, it is not possible. We are therefore going to offer them a small gift package with three or four Breton products, including this mask ”. Breton solidarity that BZH New York pushes even further by financially helping eight Breton restaurant owners hit by the health crisis.
