Asmaa Kuheil is sitting on the edge of the bed in the apartment she shares with her family. They live in Tel al-Hawa, in the Gaza Strip. On her lap, she balances her laptop. The 24-year-old works as an English teacher, and is in the process of preparing homework in digital teaching for his students.
She never gets sent.
Suddenly a sharp sound cuts through the air. Hamas, a militant movement that controls Gaza, is sending seven rockets at Israel. From the window, Kuheil sees the lights flying through the air from Gaza.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warns that the country will come up with a “very strong response”. Two hours later he keeps his promise. Then Kuheil sees the tails of rockets approaching the family house.
Then the world collapses.
