Honor Blackman played in “Goldfinger” (1964), which many consider to be the best of the early 007 films. At that time she was already a well-known actress in England, had made over twenty films and played an important part in the TV series “The Avengers”, which we became known as “With umbrella, charm and bowler hat”. The actress, who could sing well, also appeared in musicals.

When she became Pussy Galore, Honor Blackman was almost forty and therefore an unusual Bond playmate because of her age. In “Goldfinger” she embodied – that was still a taboo – a lesbian woman. After the Bond film, Honor Blackman, who was married twice and had two children (as well as four grandchildren), continued to perform on stage and in films in England. In 2001 she had a prominent guest appearance at a party in “Bridget Jones’s Diary”. And in one of her last films, the horror comedy “Cockneys vs. Zombies », she competed against undead in 2012.
Now Honor Blackman has died at the age of 94 in her apartment in Lewes, southern England (not from the coronavirus, as her family said). She will be remembered as Pussy Galore. At the same time, she is said to have refused to put this clearly ambiguous name in her mouth at all. But the producers prevailed, supported by Bond inventor Ian Fleming, who also gave the name.
