Carmen, a 54-year-old woman from Misiones, reported having been a victim of slavery in London, supposedly at the hands of an Argentine model.
According to her story, she accepted a job in England to take care of the model’s daughter, who, according to the mother, was alone with her baby and needed help.
Carmen decided to trust the model’s mother and began the trip, without imagining the nightmare that awaited her.
“They psycho-kicked me so much, they humiliated me so much, they hurt me so much,” he expressed with anguish in an interview with A24.
Although he did not reveal the identity of the model for fear of reprisals, he explained that he suffered constant humiliation and attacks.
“He told me that I was a ‘filthy sudaca’ and threatened to throw me out on the street if I said anything,” she said.
In addition, the woman reported that the young woman took away her phone charger to isolate her.
“She slept on a mat on the floor with a blanket and every day she told me that if I spoke the police were going to arrest me because she is a model and I am nothing.”
The beginning of the end
It was thanks to her niece that Carmen was able to escape the ordeal to which she was subjected. At one point, she managed to contact her relative who was in Misiones and it was she who managed to find a group of Argentines in London.
Thus, the young woman contacted Leilén, a key woman in the story. “Leilén is the angel who gave me my life back,” Carmen summarized.
In contact with the same media, Leilén explained: “I contacted Carmen’s niece, I asked her for the phone number and the address of where she was. Something inside me told me that I had to go help her.”
When she left work, Leilén went to the address where Carmen was, spoke with her and reassured her.
“The last night was terrifying, I didn’t sleep. I hadn’t slept for many nights because I was very afraid,” revealed Carmen, who also said that she didn’t let go of her passport.
When the model realized what was happening, and after Carmen warned Leilén that the situation had already reached its limit, she tried to convince her not to leave.
Leilén said that she arrived at the house and confronted the young woman, who just locked herself in and spied on everything that was happening from the window. “A police officer knocked on the door and came in, he was talking to the woman,” Carmen added.
Finally, Carmen arrived at the Argentine Consulate in England, from where she managed to get a ticket and returned to Argentina. It landed this Friday. “This morning when I arrived in Ezeiza I felt calmer, free, without so much fear,” she said.
