Baiba Broka tells about the concert performance: “It is true, without its sentiment, but with its real, deep sensitive energy, because Anna is like that – authenticity, truthfulness and depth.”
Viewers of all the performances on the big screen can watch a close-up of Anna Rancāne’s face, seeing every facial expression of the poetess, allowing her to be very close to herself.
“If Herc Frank has the movie ‘Over Ten Minutes,’ now I really feel over an hour and twenty minutes because you’re going through it,” says the poet.
The performance is like a trip around Latgale, around the places of Latgale close to the poet, about which she has also written in her poetic texts – Daugavpils, Ludza, Krāslava, Piedruja, Rogovka.
“We tried to create this play to get closer to Anna’s feeling, because I have no answer whether this story is about Anna or about Latgale, because Anna is this Latgale,” emphasizes conductor Sigvards Kļava.
“There are all colors, sounds, many languages, faiths, but one God. I think I have succeeded, ”says Anna Rancāne.
The performance includes sacred music, Latgalian folk songs, music by various composers, such as Rihards Zaļupe, Oskars Stroks and also Ingars Gusāns or Sovvaļniks, who is also inspired by Anna Rancāne’s poetry in her lyrics.
And it can be said that “Latgale fresco” is both the performance itself and Anna Rancāne.
The director of the play Viesturs Kairišs points out: “People are like that – if they are genius, then they are genius in everything – Anna Rancāne is a really genius person, she is an excellent poet, an excellent personality, she is a Latgale fresco.
It seems to me that Anna is the path she wants to take and can go on indefinitely. ”
Lidija Dororo-Lasmane, the spectator of the concert performance, tells about what she saw: “It is such a unique event, as beautiful as it is today – it has not been such a wonderful experience for a long time.”
Latvian Television viewers this season will have the opportunity to watch a recording of a concert performance.
