She has to suffer herself and one day she will die, but dancing helps Krijnie (71) to live

“Physical activity is important”

Krijnie says he may not have fully realized yet, but he has progressive lymph node cancer. The chemotherapy she underwent last December didn’t work. So it’s hope for a miracle, but one day he’s going to die. That’s why he wants to get the most out of life: “Being distracted is good, moving is good and I hope to prolong life this way.” According to her, the dance in the Helianthus was then offered on a silver platter: “I feel like I’m alive again.”

And in any case for Krijnie movement is important, because in addition to dancing she also does yoga and ‘fortunately’ still plays tennis. “It’s a form of survival and fun, of course,” says the ever-cheery Krijnie. For Saskia it is important that the participants dance here with their own feelings and energy: “And it is entirely possible that someone gets emotional and then that space is certainly there.”
