She has been sleeping for almost twenty years in her car in Nîmes

They would be at least 300, at the moment, to seek a roof every evening in Nîmes. The situation has deteriorated considerably in recent weeks. But France Bleu Gard Lozère also met, in the street, Gisèle, 67 years old, and for her the galley is counted in years. She has even slept in her car for almost twenty years. “I held on, she says. I have spent every winter since 2002. I have good duvets. There are ups and downs. I do what I can. And then I eat chocolates! It’s good for morale, especially as Christmas approaches

No one gives me gifts. So I put them on myself

She says that she sleeps in her car every night “when it’s very cold, I put my head under the duvet. And I even _sometimes slept under the snow_, avenue Feuchères, and I was alone, but I held on. My faith, the cold preserves! As long as I manage to get by, I prefer not to ask anyone for anything “.

Note: the operation 1000 duvets of the Red Cross continues again this Tuesday in Nîmes. The volunteers of the association will be present all day (from 9:30 am to 8 pm) at the Décathlon store of the Family Village of Cap Costières in Nîmes. The principle is simple, you buy a sleeping bag at a reduced price, or you bring a sleeping bag / blanket from home. The Red Cross collects them and gives them to the homeless.

You can find this interview in the 8am newspaper this Tuesday morning on France Bleu Gard Lozère.
