Roger has decided to end his professional career due to several injuries that have plagued him over the past three years. He wants to spend more time with his lovely family and pay them back for the way they have been behind him and supported him over the years. He and Mirka are also known to have twins together: older girls and younger boys. “I also want to thank my four wonderful children for supporting me, always wanting to explore new places and create wonderful memories,” continued Roger. “Seeing my family cheering for me from the stands is a feeling that I will keep forever.”
Tennis brought them together
Mirka Federer was born in Slovakia and emigrated to Switzerland with her family at the age of two. Their paths crossed with Roger in 2000 at the Sydney Olympics, where they both played tennis but registered earlier. Once there, they had more space to get to know each other, sit down for coffee between games and get closer. Mirka later commented that she found Roger a little annoying, but if it wasn’t for her her efforts, they might not have a happy marriage today. After the Olympics, he kissed her for the first time and they started dating. The Swiss immediately appreciated them as a couple, so they had to contend with the attention of the media and the public from the very beginning of their relationship.
A year later, Mirka ended her tennis career due to injury and became an integral part of Rogerer’s team. She took care of her PR for her, traveled with him to games, arranged trips, combined the program with the kids.
