There is great excitement in Austria. The Styrian thrillers will have to do without the head of forensic medicine, Eva Merz – played by Eva Herzig – in the future. She does not want to be vaccinated and, according to her own statement, therefore has to give up her role, in which she has also been seen on ARD since 2018. The actress wrote on Facebook: “The time has come, the VOLUNTARY VACCINATION has reached me too. If I don’t get vaccinated, I won’t be able to do any more Styrian crime stories. Filming will start again in the fall, without me. ”
The production company feels responsible
According to “BILD am SONNTAG”, the managing director of the production company “Allegro Film” justified the decision with the fact that around 50 people were always present when shooting the Styrian thriller, for whom the production company had to take responsibility. Everything that endangers the health of employees should be avoided. “Meanwhile, actress Eva Herzig writes on Facebook:”I expected it, but the news hit me anyway.“
Eva Herzig is thinking of an end to her television career
After Steirerkind (2018), Steirerkreuz (2019) and Steirerwut (2020), Eva Herzig’s country crime story is over for Eva Herzig, which is not only shown in Austria, but is also broadcast on our first. The actress apparently assumes that with her decision not to be vaccinated, she may even have to give up her film career. “I started my acting career at the Burgtheater at the age of 19, I love my job, I love to play. And i love my life. I don’t know yet what I’ll do if I’ve obviously become too dangerous on stage or in front of the camera without vaccination … but I’ll think of something!“
Feedback on social media
As always with this sensitive topic, opinions on social media are divided. In over 1000 comments just under the announcement on the actress’ Facebook profile, there are various views on the matter. Some fans are shocked by Eva Herzig’s attitude to the subject, others praise her courage.
Basically and beyond all irrelevant contributions, it becomes clear: There is a need for discussion to what extent a vaccination regulation – not only in Austria – is justified. According to “BILD am SONNTAG”, the “Bundesverband Schauspiel” in Germany is not yet aware of such a case. It is known from producer circles that a vaccination regulation has been rejected for legal reasons.
