Laura Richards, a 32-year-old Briton, collapsed to the ground while attending the funeral of her mom, Julie Murphy, who died of the coronavirus.
Present on the spot, the two sisters of Laura tried to revive her, but in vain. “Laura said she was dizzy and had chest pain. We thought it was just anxiety at first, but I called for help when it collapsed, “said Lisa, one of Laura’s sisters. As family members on site took turns trying to keep the young woman alive, the ambulance arrived at the scene. “It was horrible,” added Lisa.

Sadie, Laura’s half-sister, called this incident a “double tragedy”, she who could not attend the funeral because of the directives, but also because she is considered to be at risk from the coronavirus, because she suffered kidney transplant. “They were burying my mother and Laura suddenly shouted ‘I can’t breathe, I can’t breathe’. But there was nothing to do, it was already too late, “Sadie explains to the Sun before adding that” losing her sister at her mother’s funeral is like a horror film. She was only 32 years old. I can’t believe this happened just when my mom’s coffin was going underground. It’s just horrible, “added Sadie.
Laura’s family said Laura was so upset about losing her mom that “her body abandoned her.” “We had to wear masks when we saw mom in the hospital right before her death, and I think it really moved Laura to see her in this environment. She hadn’t left home before the funeral, so losing her mom must have affected her, “said Sadie. Laura was buried next to her mom. Only five people were able to attend the ceremony.
“My sister lost her life saying goodbye to my mother”
Laura’s relatives are still unable to realize the tragedy of which they were the victims. “I keep looking out my window thinking that she will be arriving in a taxi to say hello. My mother caught the coronavirus and my sister lost her life saying goodbye. I don’t want other families to suffer like me. So please follow the rules, stay inside and protect lives. People of all ages are dying, “said Sadie, distraught.
Kelly Murphy, another sister of Laura, paid tribute to her little sister and mother on social networks. “Finally at rest mom, I can’t believe the result of this day. Losing such a special little sister while putting mom to rest. Take care of each other up there. Words cannot express what we all feel. We love you both with all our hearts, we miss you, ”wrote the young woman.
A witness to the facts explained the horror of the scene. “She was standing on the tarmac, right next to the coffin, and she fell to the ground. The paramedics worked on her before taking her to the ambulance. They did their best, but unfortunately it was too late by the time she got to the hospital, “said the witness.
