Jakarta, Selular.ID – Epic Games, the popular game developer behind Fortnite, has reportedly acquired game studio Harmonix.
It’s interesting because Harmonix is a specialist in the field of music in games, and the games made by him are very well known, for example Guitar Hero, Rock Band and Fuser.
There is news of the acquisition of Harmonix, Epic Games is looking to develop music and gameplay for Fortnite, and possibly other games as well.
So that in the future Harmonix will focus on developing the music and gameplay aspects for Fortnite, besides they continue to take care of updating the content of the games they have released such as Rock Band 4 and Fuser.
“We are excited to partner with Epic Games to challenge expectations, and bring our music gaming IP to the metaverse,” Harmonix wrote on its blog.
Previously, Epic Games had also successfully held virtual concerts in Fortnite during the Covid-19 pandemic, such as the appearance of Ariana Grande and Travis Scott.
“Music has brought together millions of people at Fortnite, from emotes to concerts to global events,” said Alain Tascan, Epic’s VP of game development.
For him Harmonix is a specialist in the music aspect and they want the studio to be able to change the music experience in Fortnite which is already known to have a number of emotes and global virtual concerts. “Together with the Harmonix team, we will change the way players enjoy music in Fortnite, from passive listeners to active listeners,” he said.
