SERANG, RADARBANTEN.CO.ID – During January-February 2024, there was an increase in the number of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) cases in Serang Regency.
Based on data received by the Serang District Health Service (Dinkes), there were 98 cases. Much higher than similar cases during 2023, which were only 38 cases of dengue fever.
Head of the Disease Prevention and Control Division at the Serang District Health Office, Istianah Hariyanti, said that in the first two months of this year, there was a very significant increase in cases compared to the previous year.
“For January there were 61 cases, for February, based on the latest data, there were 37 cases. Hopefully there will be no additional cases. “That’s what was confirmed positive,” he said when contacted by telephone, Monday, February 26 2024.
The highest number of dengue fever cases during 2024 occurred in Ciomas District.
“This January there were seven, in February there were four cases,” he added.
He said that the increase in dengue fever cases in Serang Regency was caused by several factors which of course should be of concern to parents.
“There was an increase in cases in January and February, this is related to the arrival of the rainy season and decreased public awareness of dengue fever,” he explained.
He said, there are a number of symptoms of BDB that parents should know about. Starting from high fever continuously for 2-7 days, sometimes accompanied by heartburn, nausea, red spots or bleeding under the skin, or even nosebleeds.
“If symptoms like these appear, you must immediately go to hospital so they can be treated. “This is important so that no one in the community becomes a victim,” he stressed.
He admitted that last year the decline in the number of dengue fever cases in Serang Regency was inseparable from the efforts of the people of Sernag Regency to protect their environment. In fact, last year there was the One House One Jumantik (Gesit) Movement.
“This year it is a bit looser, the One House One Jumantik Movement means that every family must be responsible for their own family environment. “So you have to make sure that in your house and around your house there are no mosquito larvae,” he stressed.
In this prevention effort, there are 3M Plus efforts that must be carried out by every family to ensure that no mosquitoes breed in their environment.
“DHF is prevented by eradicating mosquito nests with 3M Plus, namely closing water storage areas, draining and brushing bathtubs or other water reservoirs once a week, recycling rubbish so that it doesn’t accumulate and become a nest for mosquitoes, and finally, plus protecting yourself from mosquito bites, ” he concluded.
