In the fast-paced world of NHL hockey, keeping a hot streak going is essential for any team vying for a championship title. Recently, Delia Sharp, Hughes, and Petterson have been on fire, consistently delivering game-winning performances on the ice. Their latest victory against the Ducks has once again cemented their status as top players in the league. In this article, we’ll dive into the details of their winning strategies and why they’re key players to watch as the season progresses.
The Vancouver Canucks won their third game in four nights on Sunday with a 2-1 victory over the Anaheim Ducks. In doing so, they extended their winning streak against Californian teams to ten games. Backup goalie, Collin Delia, born just thirty minutes northeast of Anaheim, made his first start since Feb. 21, and stopped seventeen of eighteen shots to regain his first win in six weeks. The only goal he conceded was a bank shot by Anaheim’s Ryan Strome that dribbled through Delia with less than seven minutes remaining in the game. Delia came within seven minutes of becoming the first California-born goalie to post an NHL shutout in his home state. The Canucks were led by Elias Pettersson, whose goal and assist moved him into a tie for seventh in NHL scoring with 88 points in his 67 games. Defenceman, Quinn Hughes had a couple of assists that saw him become the first NHL defenceman to post consecutive 60-assist seasons since Hall-of-Famers Ray Bourque and Paul Coffey last did it twenty-nine years ago.
Despite their disappointing season, Pettersson and Hughes’ outstanding individual performances have put them in contention for various awards. Hughes has been a star defenceman, and his offensive contribution to the Canucks from the blue line has been an exemplary case of how this position can provide offensive creativity. Hughes’ past two seasons have seen him average 0.76 assists per game, which makes him the third-most in league history, behind only Bobby Orr and Coffey. Pettersson is playing amazing hockey, and his attacking capabilities have been on display throughout the season. Pettersson started the season slowly, primarily because of injuries, but since his return, the attacking midfielder has been at the helm of the Canucks’ attack, leading the team with 24 goals and 64 points in 46 games played.
In summary, the Winnipeg Jets continue to impress as they secure yet another victory against the Anaheim Ducks. With Delia Sharp, Hughes, and Petterson leading the charge, the Jets prove once again that they are a force to be reckoned with in the NHL. As the regular season winds down and the playoffs approach, it will be exciting to see how this talented team continues to rise to the occasion. As always, we’ll be following closely and can’t wait to see what’s next for the Winnipeg Jets.
