Sharp announces Leica camera sensor smartphone

Jakarta: Sharp announced the Aquos R6, its newest smartphone in the Japanese market, and is a flagship device with the support of only one camera on the back, but with the support of a large camera sensor, measuring one inch.

Quoting GSM Arena, the sensor is the largest camera sensor ever immersed in a cellphone. In addition, this sensor is the result of Sharp’s collaboration with Leica, both in terms of R&D and image quality adjustments.

This camera sensor is reportedly capable of producing still images with a quality resolution of 20MP. Leica and Sharp have also redesigned the front lens, namely the 7P with an aperture of f / 1.9 and a focal length equivalent to 19mm.

In addition, the Sharp Aquos R6 is also supported by a ToF sensor that is embedded next to the main camera and a single flash, and is supported by electronic image balancing technology or Electronic Image Stabilizer (EIS).

Sharp claims that this large sensor is capable of producing good photos in dim lighting conditions. In addition, this sensor is also claimed to be able to offer a better dynamic range and the ability to reduce noise better when compared to other smartphone sensors on the market today.

Questioning other specifications, the Sharp Aquos R6 comes with a 12MP resolution camera and a fingerprint scanner sensor below the screen. In addition, this phone also comes with a 5,000mAh capacity battery and water and dust resistance capabilities.

The Sharp Aquos R6 is also the first device in the world to use a 6.67-inch Pro IGZO OLED screen, carrying a dynamic refresh rate between 1Hz to 240Hz in order to find the perfect balance between power saving and smooth image display.

The screen carries a WUXGA + resolution, meaning that it has a resolution of 2,730 x 1,260 pixels. The Sharp Aquos R6 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset and will be offered in only one variant, with 12GB RAM and 128GB storage space.

The Sharp Aquos R6 is offered in two color variants, namely black and white, and will be marketed via local cellular operators Docomo and NTT starting in early June. And the selling price of this smartphone will only be known when the cellphone is officially marketed.
