Sharon’s Death, the ROS Digs Into Her Smartphone

(ANSA) – TERNO D’ISOLA (BERGAMO), 11 AUG – The investigations are also focusing on the analysis of the contents of her cell phone, as well as that of her partner, to shed light on the murder of Sharon Verzeni, the 33-year-old woman stabbed to death ten minutes before 1:00 a.m. between Monday 29 and Tuesday 30 July while she was walking, as she usually did, in Terno d’Isola, in via Castegnate, in the Bergamo area. Investigators have made a ‘forensic copy’ of the victim’s cell phone, as well as that of her partner Sergio Ruocco, who was in bed sleeping when Sharon was killed in the street (alibi confirmed by two neighbors’ cameras that also film the streets around their home).
This copy will allow the Carabinieri of the Bergamo investigative unit, of the Zogno company and of their colleagues of the ROS to reconstruct any files or messages that may have been deleted from the smartphone some time ago.
From what has been possible to know, however, the first analyses did not reveal any particular use of the cell phone by Sharon: a few chats, a few phone calls and some games that the woman used every now and then, as it seems also shortly before leaving the house for the last time (detail that her partner reported). Sharon’s life was focused on the house shared with her partner in Terno d’Isola, where the couple had lived for three years (she was originally from Bottanuco, where her parents still live and where her partner has now moved too, since the house is under seizure), and on the job as a bartender that she had had for a year: before that she had worked as a beautician in a place in Borgo Santa Caterina, one of the most central neighborhoods of Bergamo. Her colleagues, current and past, described her as a quiet girl, kind with customers, always available and rather reserved.
Even family members and acquaintances confirmed to the Carabinieri that Sharon did not have a very intense social life: among her passions was reading, she read on average a book a month borrowed from the Terno library, and for some time also the walks recommended by the dietician to lose a few pounds. Walks that in July Sharon had preferred to do especially in the evening because it is cooler and on which she was often accompanied by her partner. The hope is that the Ros will be able to recover some elements perhaps deleted and that can be useful to the investigation. Next week the Carabinieri of the RIS of Parma should instead send to Bergamo the results of the tests on the samples taken during the autopsy, on Sharon’s clothes and on some knives, in the hope that some traces of genetic material different from that of the victim may emerge.
Meanwhile, the identity of a woman who first saw Sharon stabbed on the ground has emerged: a motorist who passed by at exactly 12:50 am on Via Castegnate. She saw Sharon on the ground but, frightened and thinking she had skidded, she first continued on and then went back: at that point there was already another pair of motorists helping the thirty-three-year-old. The motorist did not, however, see any suspicious people moving away. (ANSA).
