Sharon Stone (64), who mainly became known as an actress for her roles in Basic instinct in Total recall, explains in an interview with the American magazine Vanity Fair openly about the # metoo practices that used to be commonplace on movie sets. She thus reveals, without mentioning names, that there used to be producers who asked her to have sex with an opponent in order to “increase the chemistry”.

In the same conversation she also tells that at the time she had the greatest difficulty in breaking through as an actress. So it turns out for Basic instinct, as Michael Douglas’ co-star, to have been only the thirteenth choice. Douglas, already a big star at the time, was not too enthusiastic about her after all. That changed once they were on set together.
She was never consulted beforehand about the infamous leg shot in the film, she says. “When I saw it, I have Paul (Verhoeven, the director, ed.) sold a slap in the face and immediately called my lawyer. ” Still, Stone decided not to have the fragment removed from the film, because the scene ‘just fit into the context and atmosphere of the story’. According to Verhoeven, that is not correct. In the past, she said that Stone knew what would be shown in the film, but panicked when her environment and manager appeared to have difficulty with the scene.
