So I’m disabled and for this reason I don’t get hired very often…», says the 65-year-old actress who half-heartedly accuses the world of Hollywood of having forgotten her. “For a long time I wanted to pretend I was fine, but now I’m finally talking about it openly”, says the Basic Instinct star who shows her daily life and her professional life on her social networks.
It was September 29, 2001 when the actress was hit by a cerebral hemorrhage: she had been given a 1% chance of survival and was forced into a long and intense hospitalization. In the following years she was no longer even able to write. After an («extremely risky») surgery to reconstruct a broken vertebral artery, she woke up without realizing what had happened: «I woke up to discover what had happened and then I had to learn to walk, listen, write again , speak, remember and do it all over again. I thought I would die for a long time even after I returned home,” she said. Finally in the interview the actress’ drama: “I lost everything: my money, custody of my son, my career – she reveals – I lost all those things that you believe are your true identity and your life”. Sharon says that much of what was lost has never been recovered “but I have reached a point where I am fine, I am ok and I recognize that I have enough”.
