The Qool Sharks Wrzburg will travel to Dsseldorf on Sunday with a significant mortgage for the return game. The Wrzburg women lost the first leg of the playoff semifinals in the 2nd women’s basketball league in a battle-heavy game with 66:86 (30:34). In the second leg on Sunday at 4 p.m., Thomas Glasauer’s team must now win with 21 or more points.
Wrzburg started furiously and led 11: 6, but after a break, the Capitol Bascats Dsseldorf showed their qualities. Marquita Waller converted two threes and until the end of the first half the Qool Sharks were running after a small deficit. At the beginning of the second section, the guests presented and when the score was 39:49, Glasauer called his team for a break. Suddenly the Qool Sharks players looked transformed, only the US-American Katie Yohn wanted little success that day. The wing player, otherwise known as an excellent threesome, plagued noticeably back pain. Paige Bradley was often responsible for points, converting eight three-point throws and marking a total of 29 points.
Preliminary run in the final quarter
The press defense often caused problems for the table runner-up in the northern group of the 2nd DBBL. A variant that Glasauer had specially trained with his team before the playoffs. But even the 28 ball losses that Wrzburg forced were not enough on Friday evening to stop the strong professional players like Anja Fuchs-Robetin or Elle Hendershot.
In the final quarter then the possibly pre-deciding run of the Rhineland women. Lilly Kaprolat and Marquita Waller ran hot from the three-point line and ensured a comfortable 20-point lead over the second leg.
Wrzburg: Drll, Zimmermann 2, Bhmke 2, Jochimczyk 8, Wahl 5, Michel, Fuchsbauer, Yohn 4, Muck 6, Bertholdt 8, Daub 2, Bradley 29.
