Details: It is reported that the first attack of sharks occurred on September 4, then the rear left cylinder of the catamaran was damaged, after which it was completely submerged in water.

Yulia Kalyuzhnaya, head of the expedition’s coastal headquarters, suggested that the sharks could have mistaken the catamaran’s balloon for “some kind of mammal and therefore attacked.”

Over the next day, the catamaran was able to travel about a hundred miles, but on the evening of September 5, the ship was again attacked by sharks, damaging the right balloon.

As a result, the catamaran began to sink, and the crew gave an SOS signal. After 45 minutes, the expedition members were picked up by the dry cargo ship Dugong Ace.

Now the team is heading to the Australian city of Brisbane. Kalyuzhnaya will soon also fly to Australia to find a new ship to continue the expedition.
