‘Gandhi’ group, Mexico’s largest bookstore chain, celebrated Sharjah by exhibiting the emirate’s cultural heritage and historical monuments in its pavilion at ‘Guadalajara International Book Fair’, hosting Sharjah as guest of honor for its 36th session until the fourth of December.
The walls of the “Gandhi” pavilion were decorated with letters, patterns and movements forming the art of Arabic calligraphy, and his name was written in the Arabic language, the Diwani line, as well as a group of cultural assets and monuments which they translate the essence of the ancient history of the Emirate of Sharjah.
The image that appeared to visitors to the pavilion of the group participating in the exhibition included the “Sharjah Fort”, which dates back to 1823 and was the seat of the Qawasim ruling family, the “Sharjah Mosque”, the icon that embodies the art of Arab and Islamic Architecture, and the “Al Qasimia University”, which is an academic cultural beacon for sciences and literature that promotes the values of cultural dialogue between civilizations.
The phrase “Tales from here to Sharjah” written in Spanish attracted visitors and readers, allowing them an interactive cultural experience of the emirate. The “Gandhi” group pavilion showcases the spirit of Sharjah culture and showcases highlights his creative vision to deliver the jewels of Arabic literature to the readers.
Aldo Bandera, Marketing Director of the “Gandhi” Group, confirmed that Arab culture is an ancient literary reference, noting that the images and writings that are part of the pavilion project will help remind readers that literature is the basis that unites the cultures.
The Gandhi Group, named after the late Mahatma Gandhi, was founded in 1971 and has 42 branches throughout Mexico.
