Sharjah Self-Defense Sports Club Attracts International Expertise to Develop Players and Support National Talents

Sharjah, November 2, 2017 – His Excellency Ahmed Abdul Rahman Al Owais, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Self-Defense Sports Club, revealed that the club seeks to attract the best experts and trainers in this field. To benefit from their expertise in developing the club’s players and exploring and developing national talents and supporting their aspirations, in accordance with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, to work to prepare and qualify a generation of athletes capable of representing the Emirates in international forums.

This came during a meeting between Al Owais, the international expert and lecturer in judo, and the Dutchman Ramadan Darwish, who is hosted by the club to hold workshops that will develop its training program.

Al Owais said that the club is in the process of concluding a memorandum of understanding to exchange experiences and visits between the authorities concerned with judo in the Netherlands and the Sharjah Self-Defense Sports Club, praising the high sportsmanship of Coach Darwish and his desire to provide his expertise to support the club’s members, hoping that the players and coaches will benefit from these distinguished experiences.

For his part, expert Ramadan Darwish described the environment that players in general and judo practitioners enjoy at the Sharjah Self-Defense Sports Club as ideal and exemplary for exploring and developing players.

He said that the club’s modern training elements qualify it to be one of the most prominent clubs in judo at the regional level, explaining that the most prominent of these elements is the presence of competent trainers keen to keep up with modern training methods.

He expressed his admiration for the high sportsmanship of the young players and their desire for excellence, and the presence of a large number of players, which contributes to creating a continuous competitive atmosphere.

During his meeting with His Excellency Ahmed Al Owais, expert Darwish reviewed a number of international experiences in scouting and developing players to invest in their talents.
