Sharjah Press Club Concludes 5th Edition of ‘Ithmar’ Media Training Program for Children and Youth

SHARJAH, 3rd August / WAM / The Sharjah Press Club of the Media Office of the Government of Sharjah concluded today at the headquarters of Al Qasimia University the fifth edition of the “Ithmar” media training program for children and youth, with the aim of building and strengthening media capabilities and talents, and consolidating media awareness among the new generation from the age of 10 to 17 years old.

Her Excellency Alia Al Suwaidi, Director of the Media Office of the Government of Sharjah, accompanied by Asma Al Juwaied, Director of the Sharjah Press Club, honored the program’s partners from media institutions, collaborators with specialization and experience, and graduate students, in the presence of students’ parents and representatives of schools and cooperating agencies.

The final program included various paragraphs related to media work practices, prepared and presented by the participating students, which reflected the program’s outputs and its role in developing their creative skills and enhancing their awareness of media work.

Training and interactive workshops were provided to the students participating in the program in cooperation with CNN in Arabic, the Dubai Post website, and the job shadowing program adopted by the Sharjah Government Media Office, in addition to a group of specialists with competence and experience in media work.

The fifth edition of the program included the organization of field visits to various media outlets, including the Sharjah Radio and Television Authority, Dubai Media Corporation, Al Arabiya and Al Hadath channels, and CNN in Arabic.

The training workshops were held in separate locations in the Emirate of Sharjah, including Al Qasimia University, the Sharjah Center for Entrepreneurship “Sheraa”, the Frisbee in Sharjah, and the Al Majaz Theatre.

At the end of the “Ithmar” training program, the students presented graduation projects that were implemented within phases divided according to the time frame of the program to identify the students’ knowledge of the skills and information that were provided to them and verify the positive results of the program that contribute to the development of media awareness and the detection of creative talents, to qualify a media generation. My future according to the highest professional standards through an efficient media system that supports the directions of the United Arab Emirates.

The training program focused on building awareness of true and false information, addressing rumors, and protecting against social media intrusions.

During the one-month training period, the participants in the Ithmaar program learned about many media skills and technologies, including artificial intelligence journalism, and the opportunities and tools that technology provides in media content production processes.

The program also aimed to enhance the students’ media culture and introduce them to the types of media and its influence, the stages of news production, news research skills, steps to produce video and audio content, speaking skills, photography, mobile journalism, and the rules for preparing video reports.
