Sharjah: Sharjah Police has banned all celebrations and fireworks in the emirate on New Year’s Eve. The action is a declaration of solidarity with the people of Gaza. The authority has warned that all institutions and individuals should cooperate with the decision, otherwise legal action will be taken.
The administration has advised not to hold any kind of celebration events. Various companies and individuals planned huge celebrations in Sharjah and Dubai on New Year’s Eve. Large-scale preparations are underway for this. Fireworks that last for hours are also one of the main attractions of the event. As part of the celebrations, the Sharjah administration has also announced a public holiday on January 1. At present, Friday, Saturday and Sunday are holidays, so Sharjah residents would get four days off. However, in the current situation, the institutions and organizations have decided to put the preparations on hold after declaring that there is no need for any Newer celebrations.
Meanwhile, the ban has not been announced in other emirates yet. Police are making extensive security preparations in Dubai.
