Ahmed Al-Mail, Director of the Department of Social Services in Sharjah, explained that the Sharjah Office is an age-friendly city affiliated with the department, on Wednesday, organized a meeting with a number of cities around the world to present their pioneering experiences in the field of age-friendly cities, at the headquarters of the Sharjah Vintage Cars Museum.

Ahmed Al-Mail, Director of the Department of Social Services in Sharjah, stated that the meeting with the programs affiliated with the Global Network of Age-Friendly Cities comes in cooperation and partnership with the World Health Organization’s Age-Friendly Cities Office in Geneva, adding that the office is keen, through this meeting, to transfer experiences and pioneering initiatives that Sharjah offers it to its community, in addition to learning about best practices globally, with the participation of Ireland and countries from the Americas.
Al-Mil pointed out, in statements to Sharjah 24, that the various countries that participated in the meeting presented initiatives that achieve leadership and access to a society that enjoys well-being and decent living, especially care for the elderly. He explained, “We aspire through this meeting to transfer our experience and stimulate the participation of Arab cities by Be members of this network as it applies the best standards.
He added that Sharjah obtained membership in the International Network of Age-Friendly Cities under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, so that Sharjah will always be a pioneer in this field to provide the best services to the elderly.
