Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work Honors the Best Government Agencies for Innovative Volunteer Projects

SHARJAH, 13th June / WAM / The Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work, within the framework of its endeavor to promote volunteer work at the institutional level, is keen to encourage and motivate institutions to create volunteer opportunities, as it is honored annually in the category of “Best Volunteer Work Producer Award” for government agencies that She is creative in launching innovative volunteer projects that achieve positive results in community service.

Fatima Musa Al Balushi, Executive Director of the Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work, affirmed the award’s keenness to honor and encourage entities that create volunteer opportunities and contribute to creating various types of volunteer work that play an important role in community development and promoting the spirit of belonging and social participation.

She said: “During the recently celebrated 20th session, three winners of the Voluntary Opportunity Makers Award were honored by government agencies, which are the Department of Suburbs and Villages Affairs, which won the first place, and the Sharjah Book Authority in the second place, while the Awqaf Department in Sharjah won the third place, which is chosen In accordance with the applied standards and the clear and innovative idea that meets the needs of the community or the target group of volunteer work, as well as the clarity of objectives and ease of measurement and implementation according to the time stages.

She added that one of the elements of the strength of the files participating in the award is the number of participating volunteers and the clarity of their roles in carrying out the tasks assigned to them, in addition to the training opportunities offered by the entity to its volunteers.

Manea Saeed Al Darmaki, Head of the Human Resources Department and Head of the Volunteering Team at the Department of Suburbs and Villages Affairs, said that the department achieved first place in the category of volunteer opportunity makers in the Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work by providing a volunteer opportunity within the activities of (Suburbs Festival) after it succeeded in attracting 566 participating volunteers who presented 95088 A volunteer hour, which contributed to an economic abundance estimated at more than 5 million dirhams, and thus the department strengthened its leadership in offering programs that converge with its social goals and its integration with suburban councils in launching initiatives that targeted families in all cities and regions of the Emirate of Sharjah.

The “Department of Suburbs and Villages Affairs” strengthened its leadership in offering programs that coincide with its social goals in strengthening the bonds of family rapprochement and community solidarity.

The Sharjah Book Authority was able to win second place, for its efforts and role in establishing a culture of volunteer work among the community through the volunteer opportunity “Sharjah Reading Festival for Children”.

The number of volunteers participating in it reached about 355 volunteers, who achieved about 4,207 volunteer hours, with an economic abundance of 21,300 dirhams.

As for the third place, it went to the Sharjah Awqaf Department, as a culmination of its efforts and outstanding contributions in supporting the volunteer work process and advancing the development wheel in society, for the volunteer opportunity (Tabreed), which attracted about 1051 volunteers at a rate of 6895 volunteer hours, while the value of the economic saving amounted to about 63060 dirhams. .

The department organized many charitable initiatives, programs and volunteer opportunities, which targeted various segments of different categories, in cooperation with the Sharjah Center for Voluntary Work, to enhance the concept of endowment and its Sunnah, and contribute to instilling love for goodness, cohesion and community solidarity.

His Excellency Talib Al-Marri, Director General of the Awqaf Department, said that this honor reflects the great appreciation and interest that the Sharjah government attaches to supporting the volunteer work system and the extent of its interest by motivating entities, institutions and individuals to participate in instilling this value in the hearts of the members of society.
