The Arabic Language Academy in Sharjah participated in the ceremony organized by the Union of Arab Scientific Linguistic Academies, at its headquarters in the 6th of October City in Cairo, to celebrate the achievements achieved in the process of the “Historical Dictionary of the Arabic Language,” the great renaissance cultural project launched and sponsored by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.
The celebration, which was launched under the title “The Age of Prosperity of the Arabic Lexicon,” came in the context of the activities organized by linguistic academies in all Arab countries to celebrate the International Day of the Arabic Language, which fell on December 18, as the “Historical Dictionary of the Arabic Language Project” is one of the most prominent and important projects. The delegation of the Sharjah Arabic Language Academy at the ceremony was headed by Dr. Amhamed Safi Al Mosteghanemi, Secretary General of the Sharjah Arabic Language Academy, Executive Director of the “Historical Dictionary of the Arabic Language” project, who delivered a speech in which he conveyed the congratulations and blessings of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Supreme Chairman of the “Historical Dictionary of the Arabic Language” project. The celebration was attended by a group of linguists, academics, researchers and scholars, led by Dr. Hassan Al-Shafi’i, President of the Union of Linguistic Academies, Dr. Abdel Hamid Madkour, Secretary-General of the Union, Dr. Mamoun Wagih, Scientific Director of the Historical Dictionary of the Arabic Language Project, and Dr. Abdel-Wahab Abdel-Hafez, Acting President of the Language Academy. Some of the participants contributed to the celebration with poetic poems, in which they sang about the ancient past of the language, its rich present, and its ambitious future.
