Sharjah (Al Ittihad)
The Sharjah Animation Conference, which will be held in the region for the first time from May 3 to May 5 at the Sharjah Expo Center, will organize eight specialized workshops covering various areas of animation arts, including drawing animated characters and styles. Innovating mechanical machines, robots, making hero characters and other fields, providing the audience with the opportunity to communicate with experts who have won international awards.
The first conference of its kind, organized by the Sharjah Book Authority in partnership with the Italian Bergamo Animation Days, provides a platform for industry experts and enthusiasts to share the skills, knowledge and experience necessary to meet the growing global demand for animation.

Participants in the “Let’s Talk Story Moments” workshop learn about the art of visual storytelling from Academy Award winner John Nevarez, who has worked for more than two decades with companies such as Disney, Pixar and Sony on successful works such as (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse) and (The Emoji Movie) and (Astro Boy). The workshop contributes to enhancing the skills of beginners and professional animators and enriching their creativity.
In the “Character Bringing to Life: Techniques for Designers” workshop, Watertulp, a character designer who has worked for companies such as (Netflix), (Paramount Pictures) and (Sony Pictures), will teach participants the basic principles and techniques for creating dynamic characters with their own distinctive character.
A “Character with Character” workshop allows participants to learn character-building skills, where Annie Award-winning 2D animator Sandro Cliozzo, known for works such as Tarzan, Fantasia 2000 and The Iron Giant, will work on Guide the participants throughout the character building process and show them how the work is going.
And with the Japanese director Takahiro Yoshimatsu, who directed nine famous works, including (Dragon Ball Z) and (Overlord), the conference offers participants in the “How to Draw in Animation Style” workshop the opportunity to create cartoon characters, by knowing body dimensions, facial details and line style, In an experience that enhances their skills and takes them to the professional level.
In the workshop “Studio Pozzito: Storyline and Creativity”, director Andrea Puzito reveals the creative process behind the story plan for animation production, as the workshop develops the participants’ creative talents.
In the workshop “How to Draw Mechanical Machines, Robots, and Heroes in Animation Style”, participants will learn how to design and character traits and depict character movements from Japanese character designer Mamoru Yokota, known for a number of works such as (Death Note), (Naruto Shippuden) and (One Piece). and Macross Frontier.
Robin Lin invests his years of experience as Artistic and Creative Director in the Animation Art Department at Activision Blizzard, to guide the participants in the “Making the Perfect Art Bios” workshop on ways to choose the appropriate works to display, organize and present them in a distinctive way.
The “Majid” workshop, presented by “Majid Channel”, helps young animation lovers to discover the different stages of the animation production process, and to create a unique animation story through a series of practical activities and games, as it aims to inspire children and stimulate their creativity.
