Sunday 26 March is no ordinary day for our royal neighbours.
It was two years ago that Prince Carl Philip (43) and Princess Sofia (37) became parents for the third time, to little Julian Herbert Folke. In August of the same year, he was baptized in Drottningholm’s castle church.
Sharing a new photo: – Very similar to grandma
From before, they have sons Prince Alexander (6) and Prince Gabriel (5).
True to tradition, the prince couple shares a new photo of Julian on the occasion of the big day.
“Today we celebrate our beloved Julian who turns two!” write Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia on Instagram under a new photo of the newly born two-year-old.
In the comments section, there are plenty of well wishes for the little jubilee.
– Little Julian pretends to be a little charmer with a twinkle in his eye – just like both of his older brothers, says Se og Hør’s royal house expert Caroline Vagle to Dagbladet.
The new photo also reveals the similarities between the princess’s son and his brother.
– In terms of appearance, he is most similar to the middle brother, Gabriel. They are both fair-haired and have blue eyes. Elder Alexander, on the other hand, has darker hair and brown eyes, Vagle points out.

Prince Julian is the first child in the line to be born without automatically becoming part of the royal house. In autumn 2019, the king took the decision to leave out all grandchildren on Prince Carl Philips and Princess Madeleine’s side.
The purpose was to clarify who and how many are to represent Sweden and the royal family, as well as who takes part in the apanage.
Vagle therefore believes that Julian will rarely appear in official collections in the future.

– It will only happen at large family events, explains Vagle and adds:
– It was in 2019 that the Swedish king made this decision, and at the same time he took away the title of royal highness from these grandchildren. However, Prince Julian has never had it, since he was born after the decision was made.
