Sharid Fayad Mercado, from Atlantic, was crowned Junior Oldsmar national champion this Sunday, in Florida, United States.
In this way, Sharid sealed his successful performance of the weekend in which he also participated in the C1 race that awards points and ranking in the International Cycling Union -UCI-
“Thanks to my parents and team for the unconditional support”, said the athlete after concluding the Sunday competition.
On Friday and Saturday, Sharid Fayad ran in the Elite category, qualifying for the two finals.
This after achieving eighth place on Friday and fifth place on Saturday, with world-class runners such as Mariana Pajón, Peyton Ridenour and Felicia Stencil, among others.
It is noteworthy that at only 17 years old, Sharid Fayad is already fighting for the podium with runners who have won World Cups and Olympics.
Sharid participated with his team in the United States, Powerlite, with the support of Indeportes, Tecnoglass and the Autonomous University of the Caribbean.
