From the beginning of 2024, clients of Komerční banka, Moneta Money Bank, Air Bank and UniCredit Bank will gradually be able to deposit money in the shared ATM network under the same conditions as at their own bank’s facilities. The banks announced this in a joint statement on Thursday. This is the next step in an initiative started in February 2023, when these banks allowed clients to withdraw cash in a shared ATM network.
According to the banks, the popularity of ATMs with a deposit function among clients has been growing for a long time. According to them, the possibility to deposit cash at any time is especially appreciated by entrepreneurs. Statistics show that in some locations the volume of cash deposits even exceeds the volume of withdrawals, they said.
“The initiative of a shared ATM network brings essential benefits to our clients, and moreover supports the principles of sustainability. I am therefore very happy that we have made further progress in this project today,” said Komerční banka CEO Jan Juchelka.
According to him, connecting deposit ATMs to a shared network was the next logical step.
According to the banks, the aim of the ATM sharing initiative is to increase the availability of cash services for clients and at the same time accelerate activities in the interest of sustainable development. The move of duplicate ATMs is also part of the joint initiative.
When there are two shared devices next to each other in one place, banks will move one of them to where the ATM was previously missing. To date, the banks have moved more than 60 ATMs in this way, added Juchelka.
