Ronny Deila is approaching a new coaching job. According to TV 2’s experience, the 46-year-old will in all probability become Standard Liège’s new head coach.
Deila has in recent years enjoyed great success as a coach for New York City, but now he wants to return to Europe and the choice seems to have fallen on Belgium.
Earlier this week wrote The online newspaper that Deila was a solid candidate for Standard Liège’s coaching job, and according to TV 2’s information, the choice has now fallen on the Norwegian.
In that case, the agreement means that Deila will be reunited with Aron Dønnum: The Eidsvold boy is currently leased to Vålerenga, but is Standard Liège’s property and the loan agreement with Vålerenga expires this summer.
Knows the sports director
Standard Lièges finished this year in a somewhat disappointing 14th place in the table, but now the club has taken action: Irish Fergal Harkin is on his way in as sports director, while Deila will be the club’s new head coach. Both know each other well since both come from jobs in clubs owned by City Group.
Deila’s agent, Tore Pedersen, does not want to comment on TV 2’s information.
For Ronny Deila, the MLS title from last year is again the highlight in the USA. Now all indications are that he will be chasing new triumphs in Europe.
