Pawar-Thopta conflict
Anantrao Thopte is a big name in the politics of Bhor assembly constituency. Thopte, a senior and courageous leader of the Congress in Pune district and a loyal party worker, would have got a chance to become a minister twice and a chief ministerial candidate once. But because of Pawar he could not become CM.
The story is from 1993. Anantrao Thopte remained in the state cabinet for 13 years. He worked with Vasantdada Patil, Shivajirao Patil Nilangekar, Shankarrao Chavan, Sharad Pawar And worked in the cabinet of Sudhakarrao Naik. The situation was such that no one could remove him from the cabinet. But after the demolition of Babri Masjid, riots broke out in the state. Sudhakarrao Naik was the Chief Minister at that time. Naik was removed from the post of Chief Minister, accusing him of not handling the situation properly. Anantrao was the education minister in the Naik cabinet at that time.
Did not get place in Sharad cabinet
After Naik, Sharad Pawar took over the post of Chief Minister. Because of Anantrao’s work, it was guaranteed that he would be taken back into the cabinet, but Pawar did not allow this to happen. Thopte has told the story of that time in his autobiography.

At that time, Chief Minister-designate Pawar himself called the potential ministers and asked them to be ready for the swearing-in ceremony. Thopte kept waiting for the Chief Minister’s call till 5 pm on 5 March. It seemed that every call coming that day would be from Sharad Pawar. At this time Vilasrao Deshmukh came to him. He asked Thopte a question whether there are preparations for swearing in or not? He was confident that Thopte would be included in the cabinet. But when Thopte told Vilasrao that he had not received the call, he was also shocked.

Pawar and Thopte both contemporaries
Both Sharad Pawar and Thopte were contemporaries in Maharashtra politics. Both had to struggle to emerge in Congress. The controversy increased after this incident. After missing the opportunity of ministerial post, Thopte started work again with enthusiasm. In the year 1999, Congress leaders themselves came into the field and campaigned for him. It was also announced that if Congress wins in the state, then the command of the post of Chief Minister will be given to Thopte. But, this time too Pawar came in the way. After the formation of NCP in 1999, Pawar fielded Kashinath Khutwad against Thopte. Khutwad won the election. Due to the defeat, Thopte lost the chance to become the Chief Minister.
Son’s struggle after father
Then in 2004, Anantrao Thopte again became MLA. But, this time Sharad Pawar’s party had the majority in power. For this reason Thopte was not included in the cabinet. Later Anantrao’s son Sangram Thopte became active in politics. Sangram became MLA in 2009 and 2014. After Sangram Thopte was elected for the third time in 2019, it was expected that he would be included in the Mahavikas Aghadi government. But, it was said that alliance chief Sharad Pawar did not allow this to happen.

Not only this, when Nana Patole resigned from the post of Speaker of Maharashtra Assembly, Sangram Thopte’s name was at the forefront for this post. Then Sangram Thopte missed. His supporters held Sharad Pawar responsible for this. In this way, Pawar not only came in the way of Anantrao but also his son Sangram Thopat in his political journey. This struggle of 40 years is well known.
But on March 9, Sharad Pawar directly reached Thopte’s house. The reason for this is his daughter Supriya Sule. Sharad Pawar used this trick to make Supriya win in the battle of Baramati. There are six assembly constituencies in Baramati Lok Sabha constituency. Baramati city, Daund, Indapur, Purandar, Khadakwasla and Bhor are included. Ajit Pawar’s wife and Supriya’s sister-in-law Sunetra Pawar is in the fray from Baramati.

Bhor Se Sangram MLA
Sangram Thopte of Congress is the MLA from Bhor assembly seat. In such a situation, to end the enmity with Thopte, Sharad Pawar reached his house. If Thopte’s resentment had continued like this then Lok Sabha Elections I would have outweighed Supriya Sule. But, it seems that Pawar has given up in his fight for his daughter.
