PEOPLE – Shannen Doherty does not lose hope. While the American star had announced, during the month of November, that her breast cancer had reached her bones, the actress Charmed gave encouraging news on Monday January 29 about his state of health.
“After the sixth or seventh treatment, we actually saw that the blood-brain barrier was destroyed”she told listeners of the last episode of her podcast, Let’s Be Clear with Shannen Doherty. She has reason to rejoice in the destruction of the blood-brain barrier, which protects the brain from blood, because, as explained the research laboratory on the subject of the University of Artoisthis can limit the effect of chemotherapy.
“Do I call that a miracle?” To me it seems like a miracle, she adds. The fact that the treatment actually breaks the blood-brain barrier is a miracle and perhaps a miracle of God’s intervention, as if he were saying, “I’m going to let her breathe.”. »
It was in 2015 that she first announced she was fighting cancer. Two years later, she revealed that she was in remission, before relapsing in 2020. And while her breast cancer had metastasized and spread to her bones, she explained in June 2023 that cancer cells had been found in beginning of the year in her brain and that she had since undergone radiotherapy.
Shannon Doherty: “I can die today”
She now seems to put things into perspective. “ I may die today, I may die in 20 years, I don’t knowshe whispers. I can die leaving my house because a tree falls on me or a bus hits me, it doesn’t matter. Or I could die of cancer. But all I can do is live each day as positively as possible. »
Discovery in Little House on the PrairieShannen Doherty made the history of the small screen in the United States with her other roles in several cult sitcoms, like Charmed, Beverly Hills 90210 et North Shore: Pacific Hotel.
