Opens up
In the February issue of the magazine InStyle says the country queen about the difficult time after she was diagnosed with Lyme disease.
The disease must have had an enormous impact on the nerves in her vocal cords. She had to learn to sing again, began extensive vocal warm-ups and started physiotherapy.
Nevertheless, it all ended with her having to undergo an operation on her vocal cords in 2018. This led to both fear and anxiety for the star.
– Afraid I would fall off the stage
– After the operation, I was terrified of making a sound, she says.
– I was very excited
Twain further explains that she remained silent because she had no idea what would happen if she used her voice.
The worry that the operation had not been successful hung over her like a dark cloud.
– It scared me, but I had to jump into it and make a sound. And I was very excited when I heard what came out. It was a link to the vocal cord and it came out very easily. I was very, very, very excited.
The 57-year-old is now fully back in music, and her new record “Queen of Me” is expected to be released in early February.
