The exhibition economy is another starting point for Shanghai to stabilize its foreign trade environment.
According to the “Three-Year Action Plan for Promoting the High-Quality Development of Shanghai’s Convention and Exhibition Economy and Building an International Convention and Exhibition City (2023-2025)” recently released by Shanghai, by 2025, Shanghai’s total annual exhibition area will reach about 22 million square meters, international exhibitions will account for 80% of the total exhibition area, and there will be 50 exhibition projects with a single exhibition area of more than 100,000 square meters.
The above-mentioned plan also proposes that by 2025, Shanghai will have more than 35 institutions certified by the International Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI), and cultivate 2 to 3 exhibition groups with international competitiveness.
Zhang Guohua, deputy director of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, said that since the beginning of this year, Shanghai has successively introduced favorable policies for the exhibition economy.
