Shanghai epidemic becomes official: nucleic acid tests double in all districts of the city

issuing time: 10/10/2022 – 23:21

After the long vacation in China, local diagnoses appeared in many places including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong and Yunnan. Foreign media reported that in order to ensure the smooth conduct of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, many places have again increased scrutiny. As the outbreak intensifies in Shanghai, officials have ordered a doubling of nucleic acid tests in all districts of the city; starting from the 11th, Hohhot, in Inner Mongolia, neither entry nor exit will be allowed.

According to the Central News Agency, the epidemic situation in Shanghai tends to heat up after the long November holidays. The official announcement on Monday evening highlighted that between now and the beginning of November, community nucleic acid screening will be carried out at least two times a week in all districts of the city.

The Shanghai Municipal Government’s official report “Shanghai Publishing” released a message at 10am Monday evening, stating that the recent spread of the new crown epidemic in many places in China, the movement of people and the frequent rallies, the pressure from “foreign defense against imports and domestic defense against rebound” is still strong.

Officials stressed that in order to consolidate outbreak prevention and control results and quickly detect positive infections, social nucleic acid screening needs to be further strengthened. From now until early November, all districts of Shanghai will conduct community nucleic acid screening at least twice a week and each district should arrange the screening time in a reasonable manner; Check for places where it is easy to get lost.

Compared to the previous practice, only the areas where there are reports of socially positive infected must provide for the screening of the entire area and the community is closed for management during the sampling period. In response to the normalization of nucleic acid tests, in areas where there are no socially positive infected people, each district will also organize nucleic acid testing once a week.

The newspaper reports that Shao Jun, director of the Shanghai Big Data Center, said at a press conference Monday afternoon that to strictly prevent the import of the epidemic, all people who come to Shanghai and return to Shanghai must carry out “three inspections by three days “after arriving in Shanghai from now on, and must be inspected within 24 hours. A nucleic acid test must be performed within the country; for those who do not complete the nucleic acid test according to the above requirements, the “Suishen Code” (Shanghai Health Code) will be assigned a yellow code.

The Shanghai Municipal Health Commission announced on the morning of the 10th that on the 9th, 3 new confirmed local cases (one of which was found in isolation and control) and 31 asymptomatic local infections; no new confirmed cases imported from abroad, but 13 new cases from abroad were imported cases of asymptomatic infections, all found in closed-circuit management and control.

A wild rumor has circulated in the community that “Shanghai primary and secondary schools will stop offline teaching next week and switch to online classes.” The official urgently clarified that this news is not true and only the schools involved in the epidemic will stop physical courses. Some people have ridiculed the fact that before Shanghai closed the city at the end of March, the government also made it clear several times that “there is no such thing.”
